Ten Pieces of Peace

Peace comes not free,
The cost is humility.
Peace has a price,
The price is suffering
Peace has a value,
Only recognised in its absence
Peace can be measured,
It is the moments between conflicts.
Peace is a gift,
Given by those who love
Peace is fragile,
Break it at your peril
Peace is it a right?
Only if earned.
Peace for the child?
Comes softly, silently with sleep.
Peace for a woman?
Her new born babe at the breast.
Peace for a man?
When the long day’s labour’s ended.
